    FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±'s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a framework of universal, evidence-based practices that facilitate data-based decisions and provides tiered interventions to meet the academic, behavioral, and climate expectations on campuses.

     

      

    MTSS is a proactive and preventative framework that integrates data and instruction to maximize student achievement and support students social, emotional, and behavior needs from a strengths-based perspective. Best practices for an MTSS framework should include universal screening, evidenced-based practices done with fidelity, progress monitoring, and data-based decision making. 

    Well functioning instructional practices should have high quality Tier 1 which includes research-based curriculum, includes all students (English learners, special education, gifted and talented, etc.) small groups, differentiation, scaffolding, and accommodations. Tiers 2 and 3 should use evidence based interventions and supplement Tier 1. Fidelity of MTSS implementation is critical throughout Tiers 1, 2, and 3. Campus level MTSS teams review and use instructional data combined with staff member expertise to make decisions with the students’ best interests in mind to aligning instruction and support, to match individual student needs.
