Immunizations FAQ
-
Do I need to pre-register for the back-to-school vaccination events?
Posted by:No pre-registration required.  This is a walk-in event, and families will be seen first come, first serve at all locations except for the Back-to-School event which requires pre-registration.
-
What should I bring with me when I arrive with my child for the immunizations?
Posted by:If you have your child’s shot records, we ask that you bring them with you so that they can be updated. Families without a copy of their shot records are encouraged to bring the letter from their neighborhood schools specifying the required immunizations your child needs.
-
What can I expect upon arrival with my child to the immunization clinic?
Posted by:Upon arrival, you will check in at our registration table. Each parent or guardian will receive paperwork to complete for each of your children receiving immunizations and the required shots needed for your child will be verified.
After completing your paperwork, you will be directed to a table to pay for your child’s immunizations or to present your Medicaid or CHIP information. Cash and checks only are accepted. No one will be turned away for an inability to pay.
Once payment is received, children will be seen for their immunizations. After receiving vaccinations, your child will be asked to sit in the waiting area for up to 10 minutes to ensure there are no adverse reactions to the immunizations prior to your departure.
During the waiting period, parents or guardians will be asked to complete a satisfactory survey.
-
Is there any clothing that my child should wear for the immunizations?
Posted by:Wearing short sleeves provides easier access to your child’s arm for immunizations. However, there is no required clothing a child should wear to receive their shots.
-
Who administers the immunizations?
Posted by:Immunizations are administered by Tarrant County Public Health department nurses.
-
Are there any incentives for children who receive immunizations at the back-to-school events?
Posted by:Yes. Each child receives a sticker.
-
Typically, how long will the immunizations take?
Posted by:Time can (and will) vary depending on location, time of day, and how close the date is to the beginning of the school year when you visit a clinic for immunizations.
-
Will I receive a copy of the immunizations that my child receives?
Posted by:Yes. If provided, your shot record will be updated. Families who do not arrive with a shot record will receive a printout of the immunizations your child receives that can be shared with their school or a physician.
-
Are the immunizations for children only? What are the age ranges for receiving the immunizations?
Posted by:We have ALL the required school immunizations from children and students ages 0-18. COVID vaccines are available for adults ages 19 and older.
