FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± Announces New Principals at Six Schools

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± is excited to announce that new principals will be leading ten district elementary, middle, and high schools this 2024-25 academic year.

They are:

FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± Facilities Closed June 19 for Federal Holiday

This is a friendly reminder that Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± facilities are closed Wednesday, June 19 in observance of the federal Juneteenth holiday.

On Thursday, June 20 FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± administrative offices will resume summer work week hours, and Summer Learning staff and students will return to classes at the regular time.

The administrative summer work week schedule, which includes 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. business hours and Fridays off, continues through July 26.

The district returns to the normal work schedule Monday, July 29. Employees reporting for the 2024-25 academic year will work FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±’s normal schedule, per Board-approved calendars. The 2024-25 Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± Employee Calendar and Employee Start and End Date schedule is available here.

FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± 24-25 Registration Event Set for June 22

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± is actively registering students for the 2024-25 school year.

Do you know a family that needs assistance completing the online registration process for their child? Let them know trained and knowledgeable FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± staff are offering online registration help from 9 a.m. - 1p.m.  Saturday, June 22 at Dunbar High School, 5700 Ramey Ave. This no-cost event will offer free books for children, health resources, and much more!

Get Ready for Benefits Open Enrollment Season

It’s almost here! Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± starts the annual Employee Benefits Open Enrollment period for the 2024-25 year Tuesday, July 16.

Employees can elect medical, dental, other insurance and savings options for themselves and eligible dependents via  through Aug. 16. Benefits selected for the 2024-25 year activate Sept. 1, 2024.

New 2024-2025 Plan Changes

  • Baylor Scott & White will no longer be offered as a health plan option
  • Employees currently enrolled in the Baylor Scott & White health plan must select a new health option during open enrollment for the 2024-25 year. If no option is selected, the employee will be automatically enrolled in the TRS ActiveCare Primary+ plan

Additional benefits and open enrollment information will be sent to employees via FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± email and mailed to home addresses. Please refer all benefits questions to benefits@fwisd.org or call 817-814-2240.

Visit Fort Worth Series Features FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± Educators

Did you know that Visit Fort Worth’s “Unexpected Stories” series profiles two Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± educators?

Ramon Niño, mariachi director at North Side High School, and Dr. Lisa Langston, FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± director of athletics, are among 17 local businessmen, artists, chiefs, and community leaders featured in Visit Fort Worth’s “Unexpected Stories” series.

In a , Niño talks about the rich history of mariachi and the formation of the mariachi program at North Side High School.

In Dr. Langston’s , she talks about the opportunity Fort Worth gave her to start her career as an educator, the opportunity the city affords so many others to thrive, and her work investing in the next generation.

The “Unexpected Stories” series is a production of Fort Worth’s convention bureau, Visit Fort Worth, that debuted earlier this year. View all 17 short stories . 

Payroll Schedule Changes Coming This July

FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± is transitioning to a semi‑monthly payroll schedule for all district employees in a few weeks!

  • Employees currently being paid monthly will receive their last monthly paycheck on Friday, June 28.
  • Semi-monthly paychecks, which will split the monthly pay into two paychecks paid twice monthly, begin in mid July. The first paycheck will be distributed July 15, and the second on July 31, 2024. View the 2024-25 Semi-monthly Payroll Calendar for additional details.

Network System Upgrades Expected to End Thursday

Routine software upgrades, a process ensuring optimal performance and improvements to district network systems, are expected to conclude Thursday, June 13.

For the last three weeks, upgrades have taken place every Thursday after 7 p.m. There should be no service interruptions during the final upgrade period, but be advised an outage may occur for a brief time.

FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± Wireless Network Changes Begin June 20

Wireless network changes are coming Thursday, June 20. Implemented by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± Division of Technology, these changes, which begin after 6 p.m., will provide service improvements, increase network security, and ensure that students and staff are utilizing Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±-issued devices on designated networks.

Staff will access district Wi-Fi using “FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±,” and students will use “FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±-STU.”  “FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±-Guest” – the Wi-Fi network assigned to visitors – traffic will now be located outside the district’s firewall, keeping any non-Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± issued devices outside the district’s internal traffic.

These changes will not impact wireless network service to students in summer school or staff working on June 20.

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± Wireless Networks

FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±

Staff will continue utilizing the “FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±” wireless network and should see no changes in authentication or security requirements. Per device profile, staff devices will not be able to connect to “FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±-STU.”

FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±-STU

District-issued Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± student devices will be automatically assigned to the “FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±-STU” wireless network. The new authentication profile will be pushed to the student devices this summer so that no manual entry is required. Student devices will not be able to connect to “FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±,” per device profile.

FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±-GUEST

The “FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±-GUEST” wireless network is to be used by visitors with non-Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± devices. This wireless network will only have access to the Internet and will not be able to access the internal FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½± network.

The “FWÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÖ±²¥¿ª½±-MDN” wireless network will be discontinued before the 2024-25 school year starts as it is not meeting the security requirements of the district network.
