Eagle's Hint At Future Success In Loss

In last Friday’s varsity football game at Lake Worth, the Eagles put up 14 points in an effort that ended with a final score of 55-14. While the Bullfrogs by score were the superior, Diamond Hill’s defense showed its capability, holding Lake Worth to a single touchdown in the 1st quarter. Totaling 11 solo tackles and 45 shared, leading the effort was Joe Perez, contributing 3 solo and 4 shared tackles. In the second half of the game, less points were scored by Lake Worth than were scored in the second quarter alone. On the flip side, the Eagles offense totaled 244 yards, substantially higher than last week’s 53 yards. Victor Reyes caught a 43-yard pass from quarterback Adrian Gutierrez that put Diamond Hill in the red zone during the second quarter. This set up a 5-yard touchdown pass caught by Jonah Delgado to get the Eagles on the board. Rushing for a total of 170 yards were running backs Deon Ross and Jeno Mack with 99 and 71 yards, respectively. The team’s second touchdown came in the 3rd quarter, when Mack sped away on a 29-yard rush, followed by a 2-point conversion completed by Ross.There were 5 passes completed of the 12 attempted by Adrian Gutierrez, who finished the night with 66 yards through the air. Shining in spots, the Eagles will next play Mineral Wells in a home game set for Thursday, November 2, at 7 PM.

Eagles Look For Answers As They Drop Another Game

In Diamond Hill’s 53-0 loss to the Kennedale Wildcats on Thursday, the Eagles totaled 53 yards of offense over the course of the game. Jeno Mack accounted for 41 of the 53 yards, 38 of which came on a late second quarter run. There were no passing attempts on the night. The team converted on two 4th down situations, and committed no turnovers. The defense came away with 15 tackles, an effort lead by David Mora, ending the game with 3. While the game was decided by 8 touchdowns, only 6 were put up against the defensive unit. The other two were scored on punt returns. After being asked for his thoughts on the game, tight end Joey Flores said: “It's tough playing through this winless era, where it's hard to put the coach's words to action, because none of us know what winning feels like”. Starting quarterback Adrian Gutierrez also had some words, acknowledging what exactly hurt the Eagle's the most throughout the game. “We dominated in spots”, he stated, “but after a while the team got tired, and injuries got the best of us”. Diamond Hill remains winless on the season, moving to 0-7. They will next play at Lake Worth on Friday, October 27th.
