• The World Languages Institute Proudly Celebrates
the Outstanding Achievements of its Class of 2024

Among our exceptional graduates is Johana Michelle Carvajal,
whose inspiring journey and dedication exemplify the spirit and resilience of our students!

Johana Michelle Carvajal came to the United States at the age of 11 with no knowledge of the English language. Despite this challenge, she has excelled academically and demonstrated remarkable leadership and commitment to her community. Her dream is to complete her university degree and become a social worker, driven by her desire to help others.

Throughout high school, Johana has worked tirelessly to support her family and save for college. When her family’s van broke down, she stepped up and bought them a new car, showcasing her dedication and sense of responsibility. In addition to her personal and academic responsibilities, Johana has been actively involved in volunteering and leadership roles.

In ninth grade, Johana joined Journeys and has continued to volunteer as an Ambassador to her alma mater. As a 10th grader, she participated in the Hobby program, which helps students develop leadership skills. For the past two years, she has returned to Hobby as a program leader, modeling leadership for other immigrant students. Johana is also a member of the Hispanic Honor Society and consistently maintains an A/B Honor Roll status.

This May, Johana is graduating as a Superintendent Scholar with the prestigious Seal of Bilingualism and Biliteracy, a testament to her hard work and linguistic skills. She has overcome numerous obstacles and remains determined to achieve her goal of becoming a social worker, dedicated to helping others in need.

The World Languages Institute is incredibly proud of Johana Michelle Carvajal and her accomplishments. Her story is a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and potential of our students. Congratulations to Johana and the entire WLI Class of 2024!
